Yes, in most cases you can — and we’ll support you every step of the way.
Papercraft does involve using a craft knife/scalpel, but Shobhna will personally show you how to use this safely and comfortably, including ways to reduce strain on your hands and wrists.
We understand that arthritis affects everyone differently, so templates provided will be a mixture of more intricate designs and simpler templates. Intricate templates will be pre-cut for you. Simpler templates you will have a go at cutting out yourself. You can work at your own pace
If you’re unsure, please feel free to get in touch before booking to discuss your specific needs. We want the workshop to be enjoyable, relaxed, and accessible for everyone.
Once assembled, your papercraft sculpture should last for years to come.
When carefully constructed and displayed indoors, your piece will remain sturdy and beautiful with very little maintenance. You may occasionally need to do the odd touch-up using a small amount of glue if an edge lifts over time, but this is usually minimal.
To help your sculpture last even longer, we recommend:
Displaying it away from moisture or humidityKeeping it out of direct, prolonged sunlightHandling it gently when moving or dustingWith a little care, your handmade sculpture will be a long-lasting piece of art to enjoy for many years!
Your handmade papers are beautifully versatile and can be used in a range of creative projects.
They’re especially suitable for:
Bookbinding – perfect for covers and signatures, adding a wonderful natural texture
Printmaking – ideal for lino printing, screen printing, and other print techniques
Because each sheet is unique in texture and character, they add a distinctive, tactile quality to any finished piece. Many participants also frame their papers as artworks in their own right — they’re often too beautiful to hide inside a book!
If you’d like advice on which techniques work best with your paper, we’re always happy to guide you during the workshop.
